We drove into Oamaru yesterday as walked around... beautiful small town with old buildings constructed of locally quarried limestone. Lunch of local bread and cheese and fruit was spectacular. Phil and Dianne found a tea room with whisky tasting upstairs and we sat out a wind and rain and hail storm in a beautiful old wood warehouse overlooking the ocean sipping 15 and 18 and 20 year old whisky. By evening, the rain and wind continued so we passed up our first opportunity to see penguins, choosing instead to sit here at Old Bones in front of the fire after a dinner of soup made from locally grown leeks and potatoes and fine New Zealand wine. People here continue to be so charming and friendly...
Today we are off to Dunedin where we will spend three nights. There's no telling when we will find wi-fi again... we'll be back when we can...

Ahhh now that sounds nice -- great scenery, great bread, cheese and fruit, sipping whiskey. Now all you need is that great bottle of vino. Looks like you are all having a wonderful time. The pictures look great. Looking forward to the next batch on Picassa. Hope the weather is a lot better than the wind, sleet etc. you've had. We'll keep following the fantastic four.
