We are Ed and Colleen and Phil and Dianne and our trip to New Zealand has been over a year in the planning. I, Colleen, am Head Travel Planner and by April we will all know whether (or not) I have done a good job. We are flying to Christchurch in early March to spend a month on the South Island of New Zealand, much of the time off the beaten tourist track (if there is a beaten tourist track on the South Island of New Zealand.) We have sought accommodations and experiences that are a little bit different from what many tourists see, though we have not left out the spectacular sights that just shouldn't be missed. We will travel by rental car and stay most nights in "holiday homes" or vacation home rentals arranged directly with the home owners. Some nights we'll stay in "backpackers" which are hostel like accommodations, each couple having a private room and sharing common areas and kitchen facilities with other guests. We plan to do a lot of hiking, some kayaking and lots of wildlife viewing. We hope to see penguins, whales and kiwis and swim with dolphins. In short, it will be an adventuresome trip, but not so adventuresome that we won't have a hot shower and a warm bed to sleep in every night. The reason for this morning's post is for me to learn how to create and use a blog. I think it would be oh so much fun to blog as we travel, and maybe there is even someone out there among our friends and family who will find it entertaining follow our adventures. Since I am easily the least computer literate of us four friends, I hope to WOW and amaze the others with a blog space, all set up and ready to go.
I am appropriately wowed!!! This is a great idea. I am looking forward to following your adventures as you holiday in New Zealand.
